About The Connected Ideas Project

At the frontier of technology, humanity is the experiment.

The Connected Ideas Project is my lab notebook for a world in motion—a place where I trace how the biggest ideas in science become the systems that reshape our lives. From biology to artificial intelligence, from policy to story, TCIP is where I wrestle with the future we’re building together.

I’ve organized TCIP to mirror the natural flow of discovery to execution: Science, Technology, Policy, Futures, and Fiction. These aren’t silos; they are stages in a shared arc. Each feeds the next, just as the seven moonshots of biology build on one another to form a civilizational thesis.

Science is where we explore the deepest frontiers: What is life? How do genes become traits? Here I dive into the paradigms and puzzles that define the edge of knowledge.

Technology is where those ideas become tools. From genetic engineering to autonomous labs, this is the realm of making biology—and other frontier sciences—predictably engineerable and scalable.

Policy is the connective tissue. It’s where incentives, governance, and infrastructure determine whether breakthroughs live on a shelf or change the world. Policy is how we align the bioeconomy with both people and planet.

Futures is where foresight and ethics converge. It’s the work of embedding responsibility, security, and narrative into our trajectory so that the systems we build serve not only the present, but the generations yet to come.

Fiction is the binding agent. Stories are how humanity rehearses the future before it arrives. Through speculative fiction and narrative essays, I explore where our science and technology might take us—and what it means to be human along the way.

Together, these threads make TCIP more than a newsletter. It’s a place to step back from the rush of the present, to see the scaffolding of tomorrow, and to ask: What future are we daring to design?

Welcome to the experiment.

Cheers,

—Titus

Exploring how tech, policy, people, and ideas are connected. A special love for AI and biotechnology, but a lot of thinking about how emerging technologies like fusion, AI, quantum, and more are impacting our lives. With some sci-fi thrown in.

I write about the co-evolution of technology and public policy and how that is shaping society and humanity. Big fan of biotech + AI. Sci-fi nerd.
